CFAP administers the CFA Institute Society Scholarship Program. The Scholarship Program intends to help deserving but financially-challenged CFA® candidates in the Philippines. CFA candidates who become scholars pay only $220.00 in registration fees and includes curriculum materials. The scholars will also have access to partner review courses (e.g. Asian Institute of Management) at discounted rates and use of HP Calculator.
CFAP began awarding scholarships since 2000 when two CFA® Level 1 candidates were chosen. In year 2001,five more scholarships were given. For 2008 a total of 14 scholarships were awarded.
Scholarship are given on per exam basis. In addition to financial need, a scholar should exhibit excellent academic abilities and intelligence, should have strong character and integrity, involvement in volunteer activities, strong ability to communicate, proven leadership ability and a career direction that leads to obtaining the CFA charter.
Selection Process
Application forms received by the Scholarship Program Head are screened based on the selection criteria. Panel interviews are subsequently conducted. Based on the application documents and the interviews, the list of scholars is drawn.
Selection Criteria
The CFA Institute-CFAP CFA® Scholarship Program seeks promising candidates who may have financial difficulty in pursuing the CFA charter. The candidates should distinguish themselves on the following criteria:
1. Ability to Pass. Candidate should possess superior intellect and academic achievement as measured by academic records.
2. Financial Need.
3. Volunteerism Spirit-active involvement in volunteer work indicates high potential for the candidate to be active in the CFA Society of the Philippines activities.
4. Career track-Candidate should be in a career that will make her obtain the charter.
5. Others. This incude outstanding personality and communication skills, leadership. The interview portion will try to capture such qualities.
