Topic Overview:
A presentation that will discuss essential quantitative tools and techniques in screening mutual funds, which would include those proprietarily developed by Lipper, Inc. These techniques have been proven to assist investors in selecting investment funds that consistently deliver superior risk-adjusted performance. Lipper, Inc is a subsidiary of Thomson Reuters and a global provider of mutual and hedge data. Qualitative attributes that investors should apply in their fund selection process will also be discussed. Atty. Lim, our guest speaker, will talk about the PERA Law and its current implementation and will give update on the Collective Scheme Bill.
About the speaker:
Mr. Eric Wong is the Head of Research at Lipper, a Thomson Reuters company, in Hong Kong since 2007. He participates in designing and developing new rating metrics and benchmark indices to help financial institutions, fund consulting companies, and investors to evaluate the performance of funds in the fund management industry. Prior to joining Lipper, Eric managed a global fund of hedge funds at an asset management company in Hong Kong. In 2005, he was awarded as a Charter in Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) by the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association in the US.
Atty. Francis Lim is a Senior Partner of the ACCRALAW. He is a member of the Corporate and Special Projects Department and Litigate and Dispute Resolution Department of ACCRALAW. He is the former President and CEO of the Philippine Stock Exchange. Atty. Lim has worked for the passage of Personal Equity Retirement Account Act (PERAA), Credit Investment Act (CISA), Real Estate Investment Act (REITA), Documentary Stamp Duty Exemption for secondary trading of publicly listed stocks, and Financial Rehabilitation and Insolvency Act (FRIA).
